3. Ixus — Strength and Capacity
Ixus describes inherent strength — the internal capability and capacity that belongs to God by nature. This is who He is, not merely what He does. His strength is not borrowed or limited by circumstance. It is intrinsic, boundless, and inexhaustible.
4. Kratos — Ruling, Dominant Power
Kratos carries the idea of dominion — power that rules over all opposition. It is the authority that holds all things under its control. No rival power, no spiritual force, no earthly authority stands above it. Kratos is the power behind thrones and kingdoms, and it belongs entirely to God.
Together, these four words paint an overwhelming picture: God’s power is explosive, active, inherently strong, and absolutely sovereign.
The Resurrection: God’s Greatest Display of Power
Paul anchors this teaching in the resurrection and exaltation of Jesus Christ. The most dramatic demonstration of God’s power in all of history was raising Christ from the dead — conquering sin, defeating death, and seating Jesus “far above all rule and authority, power and dominion” (Ephesians 1:21).
