Family Ministries Coordinator- Full-Time

Summary:
Position is Full Time and will be responsible for providing Administrative Support to the Director of Family Ministries and the Director of Family Outreach. Can include but not limited to making copies, performing errands for the two ministries, making phone calls to families, scheduling meetings for the Directors, etc. The position will work Sunday-Thursday, and will teach on occasion when support is needed. This position reports to the Directors of Family Ministries and Director of Family Outreach for ministry guidance and meets with Pastoral Staff, program staff, family ministries staff and communicates with volunteers.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Communicating with and scheduling volunteers for Family Ministries Events; Provides admin support for committee meetings, task forces, and ministries within Family Ministries. Schedule; schedule and attend meetings, prepare agendas, take and distribute minutes and keep committee records; Attend weekly meetings; maintain Bulletin Boards; submit room scheduling requests regularly throughout the year in collaboration with the Directors and in coordination with the Facilities Scheduler; prepare publicity and publications for ministry programs and events; Update Family Ministries Social Media weekly with announcements, publications, and pictures in collaboration with the Associates, the Director of Communications, keep accurate attendance lists for Sunday morning classes, Bible studies, and special events; prepare classrooms each week, order curriculum, send notifications to class teachers,; maintain physical and digital files for all programs and events; assist and volunteers with Mission Trips, retreat tasks, and other special events; schedules youth and kids Scripture Readers for 11:00 am services in coordination with the Lay Reader Coordinator.

A strong Christian faith and Biblical background is desired; excellent communication skills; Team Player and be able to encourage children, students, families, church staff and volunteers; relates well on an inter-generational basis; respects and maintains confidentiality.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Youth Ministry Associate

Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Director of Family Ministries and Director of Family Outreach to develop and implement a comprehensive program of Christian development and education through a wide range of opportunities for children birth through 5th grade (Children’s Associate) and 6th grade-12th grade ( Youth Associate)

Purpose:
Support the Directors in implementation of comprehensive strategy for children/ youth and community engagement initiatives. Will be responsible for comprehensive implementation of all children/ youth and community engagement initiatives. These initiatives include all children/ youth outreach programming as designated by the supervisors.

Skill & Educational Requirements:
Education: HS Diploma, Ministry Experience/ Interest in pursuing a ministry position.
Experience: Entry Level Ministry Position

Organizational Relationships: 
Communicate with other departments/committees throughout the church to see where the families can make a difference or be of help
Interact with various organizations in and around the city

Working Conditions:
Evening and weekend hours are required
Visits and calls to hospitals or homes when children, youth or their families are in crisis
Attend extracurricular activities children and youth are involved in such as band, sports, theater, etc.

Percentages of Time:
60%- Student Engagement
20%- Office Time
10%- Meetings (With Staff, Pastors, or other meetings as needed)

Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead by example a Christian lifestyle that is consistent with the United Methodist doctrine
Implementation and oversite of a dynamic, Christ-centered youth ministry for 6th-12th grades through Sunday mornings, Wednesday night Bible studies and other events that carefully balances fun activities, community building and Christian discipleship
Be in contact with youth and families of 6th-12th graders through off site visits, emails, letters and phone calls to foster relational family ministry, in compliance with our communication policy
Assist the directors as needed with coordination of mission trips and attend both Middle and High school summer mission trips
Assist the directors as needed with and attend overnight retreats for both Middle and High school (i.e., winter retreats, leadership retreats, overnight outings)
Implementation of other youth ministry and family ministry events such as Worship Nights, Family Serve Day, family ministries retreat, Harvest Celebration, Family Advent, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Easter Egg Scramble, and others. Help design new events as well that will benefit students spiritually
Seek opportunities to reach un-churched youth, beginning with our own church families
Attend weekly Bible Studies and communicate with volunteers on who is responsible for teaching that night and regularly teaching when needed. Reach out to students who we have not seen around for a while, in compliance with our Communication Policy.
Be available to teach on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights as needed
Provide a program that tracks and responds to visiting students and new member students, and that identifies existing youth that share similar interests
Assist in the encouragement of volunteers in the youth ministries
Attend weekly staff meetings, and other meetings as required
In collaboration of the Family Ministries Coordinator upkeep of Social Media accounts and finding ways to engage families and students effectively on those platforms, associates post about lessons.
Work cooperatively with other members of the Family Ministry Team
Attends Meetings as requested
Perform other duties as requested by Director of Family Ministries and Director of Family Outreach
Be a good steward with the resources God has provided to Coker.

Children’s Ministry Associate

Be in contact with children and families through off site visits, emails, letters and phone calls to foster relational family ministry, in compliance with our communication policy
Coordinates activities for Coker Kids’ Club activities
Coordinates activities for Extreme Kids
Help to plan and implement new programs Implement special activities as requested by the Director of Family Ministries and Director of Family Outreach including, but not limited to, VBS, Family Serve Days, Nights of Worship, Harvest Celebration, Family Advent, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Easter Egg Scramble, and family retreats
Recruit and manage the VBS leadership team
Help maintain and order supplies for special events
Coordinate shopping for special events
Plan and coordinate 3rd grade Bible presentation
Training of the Acolytes and crucifers
Assist during children’s choir camp as requested by director of children’s choirs
Be present on Sunday mornings to welcome and answer questions
Be available to teach Sunday school or assist where needed
Attend meetings as requested
Work cooperatively with other members of the Family Ministry Team
In collaboration of the Family Ministries Coordinator upkeep of Social Media accounts and finding ways to engage families and students effectively on those platforms, the Associates will be posting stuff related to the lessons being taught
Assist with education and programing as requested
Perform other duties as requested by Director of Family Ministries and Director of Family Outreach
Be a good steward with the resources God has provided to Coker UMC (Matthew 25:21)

Kitchen Coordinator:

Coker United Methodist Church is looking for a Kitchen Coordinator. This is a perfect opportunity for someone that is looking to work part-time. The position that will be required to work some days and evenings throughout the week. The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for preparing and servings meals for events such as Mid-Week Manna and other special events that occur during the year. In addition to preparing the meals for the various events, the successful person will also be responsible for purchasing groceries, planning menus, and doing the meal prep work.

A High School or Ged Certificate is required. Certification in Safe Serve and Food Handlers Permit is required. If successful applicant does not have these certifications, Coker UMC will pay for costs associated with obtaining the certifications. Other requirements include, Knowledge of food handling and cleanliness; Organizational and interpersonal skills; gift of hospitality.
