There are countless ways that, at Coker, we have said “We are ready to help” whenever and wherever God has called us… One example of that was this past summer when Coker hosted our third mission trip to Mexico. A team from Coker made sure passports were current, and braved the driving in Mexico City.

Pastor David has a longstanding relationship with the Methodist Church in Mexico, and they have directed us to places like Misión Juan Wesley, the Migrant Ministry in Apaxco, and we are exploring the possibilities of partnering with another ministry in the mountains of Mexico.

Because of Coker- Misión Juan Wesley, has been able to finish a roof terrace where they have already invited in and hosted a student ministry event of 100+ local students, and a women’s ministry event of 70+ local women. We have also aided in medical consultations for 60 people including 25 local children. We cleared land, cut grass, and planted trees. With the land cleared they were able to host a VBS in front of the church and use the area for recreation & fellowship.

While in Apaxco, we shared care-pack-supplies and the message of hope in Jesus with migrants along their journey out of Central America. While visiting with the migrants, many shared that they didn’t wish to be on a journey, as it is their hearts’ desire to be home, with their family, and with their community.

Since visiting with the migrants we have been burdened in prayer on how we can go even deeper into restoring community for the migrant brothers and sisters. God may be opening the doors in a mighty way for Coker to join in a partnership with Compassion International which would allow us into Central America to free children from poverty in the name of Jesus. Please join us in prayer that we stand ready for all of the places God leads us (locally and beyond).
