Welcome to the 2019 Advent study at Coker United Methodist Church, we pray this will be a blessing as we prepare our hearts for our Messiah. This study is hosted by Associate Pastor, Damon Relder who is joined by Richard Garrett. Richard conducts Coker’s bell choir and has a wide knowledge of music. Also joining them is Jenn Clauser, Coker’s director of our communications. This Advent Bible Study was filmed live with internet audience participation. As you listen to the session, prepare your hearts to answer the questions below. Also included below are “helpful links” of songs that were talked about during the session. Enjoy!

Questions for Reflection
Note: Send responses to Pastor Damon at DRelder@coker.org

-What are your favorite Advent hymns, specifically, the songs that are sort of the pre-view to the Nativity story?

-What does the message of “Come Thou Long Expected Savior” mean to you?

-What does the message of  “Emmanuel” mean to you? What difference does it make to you that God was to become truly human and live among us, rather than just appearing in adult human form throughout history, but never living out a completely human existence?

-What does the message of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” mean to you?
